Proswaterproof, good color, good length for coverage, cheap aglet quality
I loved this jacket. It had a great color and size. The gold wasn't too bright and the length was long enough to give good coverage. All the new jackets don't come in this length which is something I really miss.
I'm sad to say that I returned the jacket because the plastic aglets (the little pieces at the end of the drawcords) which tighten the hood broke after a month. The cords themselves were fine and functional, just the plastic pieces at the ends broke. I then went to the store to exchange it for the same model with non-broken aglets. Upon inspection, all the jackets had cracks along the seam of these plastic pieces so I decided to return the jacket for the newer model. The newer one didn't have the same version of aglets, so I wasn't concerned about their breakage. However, I'm not quite as happy because the new jackets aren't as long and don't have the same color that I liked before.
A very well made jacket. It has kept me warm and dry through a wet, cold, windy adventure in Tasmania, Australia. It works well alone or over my ascent fleece coat.
the circumference of my head is 23 inches and I was unable to cinch the hood sufficently to prevent it from falling over my eyes. Also, in high winds the hood would likely fill with air and become uncomfortable. The hood would work with a very thick hat or helmet. In most circumstances the hood would not work correctly, is too large and unuseable.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
You will not get wet in severe rain storm. Fits well alone, with Ascent Fleece or Ascent Goose Down. I carry it everywhere I go. I use it during Maine snow storms and Key West rain. Nothing compares.
