I bought this at about half-price, after looking at it for a few years, and now cannot understand what the hype is about. Had I a good look first, I would not have bought it. I ordered a Large (everything I wear is Medium), but even so find the shoulders and sleeves way too tight over a mid-weight sweater. Shoulder movement is limited and uncomfortable. The jacket is not long enough for decent coverage over the hips, and pocket space is limited. Because I live in Canada, returns are a hassle. I'm therefore keeping it ... but from now on will think twice before ordering anything other than polos and turtlenecks.
I was surprised at the light weight of the jacket and thought it would not be able to keep me warm up here in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan. The price was good, a great sale and so i thought i would give it a try before i decided whether to send it back. I have been pleasantly surprised at how warm it is, i wear either a sweatshirt or sweater underneath and have been very warm even in the frigid cold. The fit is very good for me, i love the extra space in the underarms for easy movement. My only complaint is i have had plenty of struggles with the zipper. Sometimes it goes up easy and other times it will not go up at all, i called customer service today and they are sending me a new jacket in exchange and i am hoping the zipper will be better. Otherwise i will be very dissapointed to send it back for a refund.
I bought this right after Christmas for a hiking trip in Maine and I'm so happy with my purchase. I used this for snowshoeing over the weekend and this helped to keep me so warm (used over the ascent fleece) that I had to eventually take this off. The temperature dropped to 1 degree F that night and I never once felt cold using this. The fit is really roomy in the middle so I can stuff plenty of things in the pockets and also didn't ride up on my fairly wide hips. I'm very pear-shaped. The only thing I wish this jacket would have is a way to roll up and tuck the hood away. Other than that I'm so very happy with this jacket.
This jacket is totally waterproof and breatheable. It has a couple of inside pockets and the adjustable hood is appreciated. My main complaint is the body of the jacket is too short and the arms too long. I wouldn't recommend this jacket for anyone with a long torso. I make do by tucking my fleece or sweater into my waterproof over- trousers.
