Often times I find I prefer the color selection for the mens version. I love this jacket, but not thrilled with the color selection. The red is too BAM! I'm not a fan of Teal or White either... I like the more earthy tones, muted reds, pine/loden greens, etc. Love the color selection for the Men's Mountain Stretch!!!
Never had rain gear that made me look shapely before! I'm an aging X shape & need princess lines or I look like a sack of potatoes. I wore this jacket the first time at a dog trial in a nor'easter. People told me I lost a lot of weight. In rain gear!!! Enough about aesthetics. Does it function? 2 days in driving rain for 8 hrs a day and I was the only one at the trial dry. Velcro cuffs kept water from wicking up my sleeves. Hood fit over my baseball cap perfectly. It is long enough to cover my seat. I had full range of motion in it. It kept the wind off. This jacket is SUPER! Classy and effective, it is a keeper.
I received this jacket two weeks ago. The fit is decent, unless you have a long torso (does not cover the hips). The back hemline falling mid-hip is not flattering. A shirttail hem would help. I would not recommend this jacket if you have a long torso or are pear-shaped.
Also, no lining whatsoever--comparably priced Gore-Tex jackets usually have either insulation or a mesh liner that aids in wicking moisture. For the $300 price tag, LL Bean should be able to do better. Their active wear competitors do.
I ordered the one on sale for $199. Even though it looks quite nice and has very nice details, still I think this jacket is overpriced. I had expected something a bit more substantial but was instead surprised by its flimsiness. It will be sent back ASAP.
