Just opened my package and put on the shirt. Fit is good to excellent. Construction is pretty good, particularly buttons, and the stitching.
I think if you are looking for a traditional American button down, you are focused on the collar ... and I like the collar on this shirt.
The cloth itself *is* lighter weight than I would have expected and longer term goes to potential wear and tear. OTOH, consider the lifetime guarantee as I do: a veritable, buy one get one free offer.
Within that viewpoint, and given that these shirts typically sell for $50 each with free shipping to your door ... I don't know what anyone is expecting from Bean.
This shirt is comparably priced to the least expensive shirts on the market. This is simply great value.
The material is very thin. After several months of washing all three of assorted colors have torn in the same spot. They are also susceptible to food stain of any type.
I am happy that LLBean has the sense to understand that a 15.5 inch neck size and a 36 inch sleeve means that the person wearing that is tall and skinny. I am thrilled with all of these shirts! They do not look, they are not made for someone to hide a basketball under the front of the shirt! They wash and dry so well and still look like they were ironed by a professional.
I discovered that this shirt,s neck size runs a full inch more than what,s on the label. A 16 1/2 order will ship as an actual 17 1/2 which will wrinkle when tying a tie. It should be fine for casual wear.
