Pinpoint cooler than Oxford Cloth
PostedNovember 5, 2013
I've worn Bean's Oxford Cloth shirts for 35+ years. I'm not sure I've ever worn one out. I usually gain or lose weight, and change sizes. My only complaint is the Oxford Cloth shirts are too heavy to wear in the summer. The Pinpoint is lighter and more comfortable.
I'm not sure they are truly iron-free. At least not in our dryer. But if you take them out after 10 minutes when they are still damp, very little ironing is needed. They are as good as more expensive designer brand shirts. Those brands also charge $12 for monograming. So .... LL Bean is still a good value.
Suggestion: Add forward point collar dress shirts. According to the fashion experts, button down shirts should not be worn as a dress shirt after 6 pm. Also offer colored shirts with a contrasting white collar. This opens up a new market for you.

A Bit Disappointing
PostedNovember 3, 2013
I've always worn traditional dress shirts that need to be sent to the cleaner. Tried this one because I can see the practicality of being able to wash & wear. Unfortunately, the fabric of this shirt seems somewhat stiff. Otherwise, the shirt is fine. Doesn't seem to be a good move on LL Bean's part only to offer wash & wear dress shirts.

Quality Substantially Diminished
PostedOctober 28, 2013
This is not the same shirt I willingly paid a premium price for last year. The fabric is markedly thinner, with a cheap, harsh feel and shine to it. The soft, thick drape is gone. The stitching and details are weaker and less crisp, and the breast pocket looks almost like a fake pocket, it is so thin. This shirt is no different from what I could pick up at a local department store for my husband, yet it is far more expensive. Since even the premium quality shirts were beginning to fray badly after one year of weekly washing/wearing, I can imagine the brief lifespan of this shirt. If you are going to change the quality this far on a product, it should not be advertised as the same product.

material too thin
PostedOctober 27, 2013
I've purchased many shirts from LL Bean in the past including this Pinpoint Oxford Cloth Shirt. I'm really disappointed with the drop in quality of this shirt. The material is much too thin for a dress shirt, especially in white. You can easily see through it. It does not compare to the same shirt I purchased from LL Bean a couple of years ago. I'd rather pay a little more and get a quality shirt than this cheap knockoff.
