I've had several of these over the years and they're my favorite out of any brand and still fit the best. I'm 6'3"/220 lbs and the 16 1/2 / 36 shirts fit like a custom shirt. The added length is comparable to to the tall sizes and very much appreciated.
I like to look as sharp as possible in the solid colors, so I have them dry cleaned. Even when I'm in a time crunch and wash and dry them myself, they come out looking great to wear.
As for the collar rolling, all I suggest is that you UNBOTTON the collar buttons before washing, fold the collar down when you pull them out of the dryer and hang them up, and then button the collar when you put it on....I've never had any issues with any Bean shirt using this method.
I tend to agree with other recent posters.....This business of the collars "rolling up" not staying in the original lines of the fold is a real downer for me....Only started in my last two orders of these shirts.... Not working for me anymore, I'm now looking at department store brands for relief. I hope you resolve this issue, as the shirts as I remember them were excellent in quality and value......
Along with other reviewers, I have had issues with the collars and sleeves on these shirts wearing out on the crease, holes developing in odd spots on the collars and with one shirt the fabric shredding along the shoulder. I thought it was just me...I purchase from LL Bean exclusively. On all my recent purchases of wrinkle resistant button down shirts I also am having an additional problem. The collars seem to roll up, They don't lay flat. The best way to describe the problem is if I were to wear a tie, you would see a good portion the tie peaking from under the collar if you were standing behind me. I spend a good portion of my dressing time trying to get these collars to lay where they should. Becoming disillusioned with the quality of LL Bean shirts generally.
I have had the same experience as so many other reviewers: the crease of the collar wears out too quickly. I have four of these shirts in blue and each one of them has worn out to the point where I can't wear them anymore. I bought two roughly a year ago and the other two about six months ago. I wear each shirt no more than once per week, wash them in the normal cotton cycle, and tumble dry on medium heat.
Keep in mind, any dress shirt collar will eventually wear out from the laundering process. I have had the collars of other brands wear out, just not as quickly as the LL Bean shirts.
On the good side (ie. the reason why I am not giving the shirts one star), these shirts have the best wrinkle free treatment out of any I have owned. They look great right out of the dryer, even better than more expensive shirts.
I called LL Bean about exchanging the shirts, and it sounded like they are aware of the problem and will be willing to give me new shirts.
I would recommend these shirts to a friend and I will continue to buy them myself based on the superior wrinkle treatment. However, I hope that LL Bean can do something to make them last longer.
