This would have been my third llbean hammock in about 25 years. The first two were much more sturdy; the wood seemed thicker and the cotton roping seemed more dense and tightly woven than what is currently being offered. It nearly sank me to the ground when I sat in it. I was very disappointed and sent it back.
I bought this extra large hammock because I have always trusted LL Bean products and because the body length was specified as 82 or 84 inches (my husband is 6'5"). When I measured the body length it was 72 inches. LL Bean shipped me a new one claiming to have measured it beforehand, but it was even smaller. I sent both back. A terrible product.
I purchased the cotton hammock for my husband's Father's Day. We had one years ago and it lasted a good ten years before constant use and weather finally did it in. This new hammock is hung on our deck beside the lake and is providing much enjoyment. It is exactly what I expected from LL Bean. So glad I got it and know that we'll be using it for many years to come!
I have always ordered the cotton hammocks from LLBean to fit my steel stand from LLBean. They have always been great but not anymore. I ordered it, set it up, put it on the tightest notch and sank to the ground. I am not a big person. Thought I just got a bad one with a bad weave so I ordered a replacement. Same thing happened with the new one. I am very disappointed. I should have read the reviews before I ordered because it seems like this is happening to many people. I don't think they work in the stand anymore, only if you put them up high in a tree and I don't want to do that. Again, very disappointed in the product.
