We purchased this X Large hammock a few months ago and despite all efforts to pull it taunt, I weigh 220 and sink right to the ground when I get in. My 6 year-old gets in (at all of 50 lbs.) and she winds up inches from the ground. With both of in, we smashed against each other and onto the ground. We are going to call LLBean for a replacement to see if this one wasn't measured/made correctly. Otherwise, we love the Bean!
We love our hammock! This is our second LLB hammock in 28 years. The first one saw me through 3 pregancies and 5 years in S.Africa. The current one we have here in Maine is almost 12 years old and in excellent shape. We usually move it to the corner of the porch when it's going to rain. There is nothing like a hammock. Some day I'll swing with my grandkids. For now, my youngest & I still read and sing together....blissful memory making! Gotta have a hammock!
This hammock just broke today 15 years after I bought it. We have left it out in all sorts of weather. The hammock cleans up nice after a winter outside in the Northeast. I am going to get my second one. Well worth the money!
I bought our cotton hammock back in 1989 and just this weekend, a rope tore. We try to bring it in if bad weather is called for, but the hammock spends more time under the trees than we are able to, unfortunately! I am just now checking out the availibity of a replacement.
