Purchased as a gift for my husband who hadn't been able to find suitable headgear in department stores. This is a hat he will actually wear when he is outdoors clearing snow. feeding birds, hiking, etc. Especially useful in cold, windy conditions when blowing snow, sleet, or freezing rain are involved.
My husband has a very large head and we have been searching for years for the right hat for protection during our intense winter conditions. He is so happy and shocked that we finally found him this great hat for a Christmas gift! My husband likes that he can wear the flaps up or down, and the hat actually stays on with the flaps up because of a the design that holds it to your head in the back and on the forehead. The hat fits taught but does not feel too tight; he says it feels very comfy and warm. He recommends this hat to any man who needs a large or XL hat with style and function. This hat withstands winds and snow; it can withstand the very high wind conditions in Nor'easters and snow storms. After hours of snow removal today, he feels great. Thanks for always having what we need, LL Bean.
This hat was a Christmas surprise. Is slightly adjustable if the size is just a little off. I am told it is very warm! As winter progresses I think the ear flaps will be very welcome. The Gore-Tex water resistance is my husband's favorite feature. Thanks for a quality item.
I purchased this hat for checking traps, late season goose hunting. The hat is very warm, covers the ears, first time I sported it rain fell and it was dry. The reason for the fair rating is the fleese is not sewn into the top of the hat. Now being a middle aged bald guy the hat moves around on your head and if you go to adjust it the fleese comes out. So you have to take the hat off, push the fleese back in and then put it on your head. Sounds like it's the end of the world, not really if you don't go in the brush, walk city streets or have a full head of hair go for it. If you are bald then get a scully, it's just to frustrating to wear and be active.
