I purchased the sign with my town's name on it. It fits in my kitchen perfectly. I have many kitchen antiques including a Hoosier cabinet..(natch!). I have it above my door. Mine is painted white and looks distressed. I love it.
I purchased the red, green, and blue sign.They all turned out as pictured. I was so excited to have locations with special meetings. The piece is real wood and you can tell that someone takes time on each piece. I definitely recommend buying.
My husband and I lived in Maine for several years, and when we left, my sister bought us this sign with the name of our town on it. We loved it because the town we had lived in was not a touristy town, so our sign may be the only one like it anywhere. Very unique. One of my friends saw it, and she decided to get one for each of her son's rooms for the places they were born (as they are a military family, and each was born in a different state). Such a cute idea. As with anything from L.L. Bean the quality is great... very satisfied.
