My husband and I recently purchased several Waterhog mats for inside and outside our home... and we love them! So much so, we felt our beloved kitty deserved one of her very own. We love her, but she is not the neatest eater! Now we do not have to worry about all the food and water she has a tendency to spill. We purchased the small khaki... NOT personalized (we figured our cat would not notice the difference!). We LOVE it!
I have no doubt that this mat will work wonders at absorbing the spilled water from my dog's water bowl, but I was pretty unimpressed with the personalization. It's clear that some sort of letter stamps are used to spell the pet's name, and on the mat I received, there are very noticeable lines around where the individual letter blocks were stamped. It is not nearly as crisp and clean looking as the image on the website.
Also - the plain blocks of mat to either side of pet's name are very very smushed and melded together--not "fluffy" like the other raised areas on the mat. It almost feels like they've been exposed to heat that has melted the fibers together (which I suspect may be how the letters are stamped into the mat).
Overall, even though I think the product will perform well, I am pretty disappointed that I paid for personalization that turned out so second-rate looking.

ProsDurable, Performing as Expected, waterhog pet place mat
Ordered 3 based on the previous reviews (plus I have the outdoor Waterhog mat) and the need for something better to contain food/water mess. I have 2 cats (both like their own eating space) and a dog. They look great and work well. My only "complaint" would be that the names don't really show up well. I ordered the tan color as that is what my outdoor mat is and it was personalized and our name outdoors shows up fine. I had read a review where someone else complained about this but they had ordered a darker color and suggested to go with the lighter so the names would show up better, but they don't. I am still happy with them and would recommend them.
Perhaps a little pricey, but this is a wonderfully convenient mat for dog bowls. My dogs have a habit of placing their paws in their water dish and splashing. This mat catches and contains the resulting spray. It also keeps the dishes from sliding around. I would definitely buy it again. The fact that it coordinates with nearby doormats is a plus.
