I ordered lots of items for my family from LL Bean. Everyone of them a great purchase, however I must say every item that I have purchased for my four legged family members has been exceptional. These "puppy supper" placemats are wonderful and do a great job of soaking up water from our "special" lab who wanders while eating and drinking...........Thank you for another wonderful solution!!
The quality and functionality of the place mat are at L.L. Bean's high standards. However, the personalization of the mat falls very short of a quality production. The letters are stacked together and then, apparently, pressed into the pile with heat and pressure. Unfortunatly, when the letters were stacked, spaces were left between the blocks so that you end up with raised pile lines between the letters. That inattention to detail makes the mat look cheap.

ProsDurable, Great Value, Performing as Expected
First, I bought the large size for my dog's water and food bowls. I was so delighted, I then bought the small size for my cat.
This terrific product looks great, never slips or slides, and really does absorb all spills...even the contents of an entire bowl of water.
Recommendation -- Buy a stiff, sturdy scrubbrush and reserve it for cleaning the mat. Once or twice a week, take the mat outside and give it a thorough cleaning with your garden hose. Don't use soap or any other chemicals; the friction of the scrubbrush plus running water will clean the mat. Then, rinse the mat well and leave it outside to dry.
Love these.....my cats make a mess I just take outside and hose off. Let dry in the sun. Have used these for 15 years and never a complaint. Vinegar is good if it is really bad, but regular rinsing is usually enough. Once every couple months. I have some that stay outside and they are almost like new.
Will never buy anything else....and the last time I stayed at the Ritz Carlton...they had these mats.
