I bought the flip top lunch bag for my kindergartner and 3rd grader. I liked that the top allows a drink bottle. On the bottom, I am able to include the Rubbermaid ice block, a small container of fruit, and two medium containers (for chips and a sandwich). (I use the lunch blox containers). My kids say the ice is still cold after 4.5 hours (from morning to lunch). I also like that there is a removable long shoulder strap. We usually place the strap in the front pocket. But it has come in handy when their hands are filled and must use the shoulder strap.
My only request is that the the lunch bag came with the same reflective light material as used on the back packs.
Lots of room. My kids overstuff this lunch box and the seams and zippers are strong enough to handle their abuse. I just purchased a second because the one I purchased over two years ago is in perfect condition. I wash it either in my dishwasher or with laundry.
Good size fits a lot for lunch and after school activities. Would like to see the addition of an elastic inside to keep water bottles upright to prevent leaks from occurring.
I bought this lunchbox for my 9 year old daughter and it is smaller than the Discovery Lunchbox II that I bought for my 4 year old! The cubic inches are greater for this flip-top than for the Discovery II, but the overall style did not allow us to easily fit her water bottle, sandwich container, and a few snacks. We are so disappointed as we have to send it back. And the Discovery II is apparently sold out now so we have to look elsewhere.
