I bought this lunchbox for my husband, who is a school teacher. He loves it. It's "classy" enough that it doesn't look like a kiddy-lunch box and we bought it in hunter green. I like that I can fit small rubbermaid containers in it, yogurt, a water, etc. It's perfect for what we need it for. It's nice on car rides, too - to put cold fruit and snacks in.
This is my 3rd LLBean lunchbox purchase. A friend recommended it, as it had plenty of space for lunch, snack, thermos, etc. So, I purchased it for my son, who is in Kindergarten. It has plenty of room for everything! And, he is able to open and close it independently. The only thing (which can be easily taken care of) is the longer strap. My son is very petite and if he doesn't have the strap over his shoulder and holds the handle, the longer strap hangs and drags on the ground and could present a safety issue (i.e. tripping). But, you can easily remove the strap to avoid this. I would recommend this lunchbox for anyone. I was even considering one for myself.
In the mornings, making breakfast and lunch-to-go must be quick, efficient and practical, so we can all get on the road in a timely fashion for school and work. With this L.L. Bean Flip-Top lunch carrier, I simply unzip, load, zip-and-go. Extra net holder keeps everything separate and contained and the easy-to-clean interior is always fresh and clean. An L.L.Bean lunch carrier is SO much more impressive for my husband to take to work. Because if he brings little 3-year-old Ty's Bob-the-Builder lunch box, his peers will tease him relentlessly.
I have three children and have bought many lunchboxes over the years. This is my favorite ever. The lid holds the drink and you can put anything from a juice box to a full sized sports drink in there. There is enough room for two reusable containers and a full sized yogurt. My kids love the shoulder strap. I bought this for only my son this school year, but my two daughters will get them next year!
