This is a very nice, well-made mattress cover; however, it is too firm. I don't know how something filled with feathers could possibly be too firm, but it is and I had trouble sleeping. It was not good for my back. Maybe it will soften up a bit with use, but right now I'm back to my old mattress cover. I'll try it again another time.
This mattress pad offers a decent alternative to the feather bed offered (though not as thick/plush of course). I am currently using it, and don't find it too hot (late spring) and have had no problems with feathers escaping or poking. I'm a little anxious about cleaning it though. I like to periodically clean the mattress pad and forgot about the effort required when dealing with down (sending out or laundry mats). Consider that, but you should be happy.
