We purchased the medium messenger bags for our 11 year old twins. They are very well made and nice looking. We had to return the first ones we puchased because they were too large. LL Bean's customer service dept. was top-notch. They made the return simple and easy and got the smaller versions to us very quickly.
The medium size is perfect for younger students (my son is in fourth grade) who feel they're too grown up for backpacks. If your child needs room for a lot of books and a Trapper, I would recommend ordering the larger size because the adjustable straps make it easy to manage. The color choices make it unique and easy to identify.
The bag is excellent quality and the colors were exactly as they appeared online. I wish the straps had a little more ability to be adjusted - tightened as far as possible they are still a little long. But overall, very pleased and would purchase again.
