I bought the mini for my daughter to use as a purse and she loves it! But the inside pocket doesn't have a zipper. The only way to close the pocket is a velcro strap, which does not hide personal items well. I would buy one for myself, if it had a zipper pocket inside. We also love the sturdy, easy to clean material! Since it's made by LLBean I'm sure this purse will hold together for a long time!
I took a chance and bought the medium size bag for my second grader. The size is perfect for her few school books and binder. She wears it cross-body style and really loves it. The strap is well padded and ajustable. At its shortest adjusted length it is just a little long. She is 53 inches tall. It has a pocket for a water bottle, plus extra storage pockets. We are very happy with it.
After reading every single review, I ordered this bag for my son who is in 5th grade. I called LLbean to order the large and she asked if I understood the sizing. I really appreciated her help but ordered the large anyway. My son loves this bag more than any other bookbag I have bought for him in the past. It is quite large but he still loves the room he has in this bag. The only downfall is that the strap has to be all the way short for him which makes the extra strap on the other side of the clip really long. We tried tucking the leftover in the side zipper pocket but still had problems. I didn't want to cut it incase he wanted to make the strap longer. He ended up rolling it and putting a rubberband around it which was a great idea. The only other downfall was that I had it personalized but the letters do not show up because they are in black and the bag is royal plaid. Overall the bag is great and I agree that the color is a little different than the picture online but I loved it. The color is brighter.
This is a great bag. My friend has it in size small and I love it, but by the time I made my purchase the small was no longer available. I have it in mini which is nice and medium which is also nice, but the small would have been perfect for me. Still it is a great bag and I use it daily. It fits everything I need and in an organized way.
