I had been wanting one for several years since surviving Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast. I have finally gotten one and it is perfect. I'll carry it in my car until hurricane season where I will move it to my hurricane tote (supplies). The hand crank and solar panel mean that I don't have to find or keep batteries and the USB charging port will allow me to keep my cell phone charged if I lose power again for the 3 weeks we were without. The radio is loud and clear for such a small size. I have already used it in order to listen about bad weather coming into our area. I hate to say that I look forward to putting it to use (if the need arises), but feel that it will make me feel safer and more prepared.
I bought this as a gift for a dear friend who camps and hikes a lot. I tested it and played with it before wraping it and thought that I should have purchased one for myself. After only a few cranks I tested both the radio and flash light and was truely surprised that both worked. Radio stations came in clear and that little light was very bright. And it is the perfect size and extremely light weight. Fantastic gift!
The Solar radio light I purchased will be an added item that I can depend on during a power failure. The item is small enough that I can easily have it available when needed and works really well for our family.
