I ordered these as gifts and got one for myself. I thought with the prevailing reliance on cell phones, it would be a good idea for everyone to have a backup in case of power outage. So I was a little peeved to find that one has to buy an additional piece of equipment( a USB cord) to actually use this function. Nowhere on the packaging or even in the instruction manual does it indicate this. Can't comment on how it works until I go out and purchase the appropriate connecting cord. I will have to apologize to my 'giftees' for the incomplete gift and buy them cords.
I gave this as a gift to a friend who lives in the country and occasionally is without electricity. I was elated to find that it was even BETTER than I had expected. While small and compact, the radio works wonderfully, the flashlight is bright. It does not require winding it since it is solar operated. Additionally, she has a problem with one hand and the winding part would be hard for her. I have never seen her so happy with a gift. Now I want one.
