Great radio and flashlight - highly recommended. Radio works for hours once charged from the sun.
However no luck trying to charge my cell phone batteries with the crank. I wound it for good ten minutes- no significant charge... So don't count on charging your cell phone. On the other hand something like bluetooth device charges.
Again, other than cell phone charging it's a great product and LLBean sells is for a really good price. Thanks Bean!
If you send a child to camp, this is the flashlight to get! My son's bunk mate had one just like it and my son sent a letter from camp specifically asking for this radio light. I can see why! It's solar powered so no need to plug in and charge. What other electronic device, requested by name by a 13 year old boy, can you say that about? It's very sturdy, too, so any kid or adult for that matter, will be able to enjoy it for years to come. The radio got great reception, too, at a very remote camp, and my son was shocked at how bright the flashlight was, with no batteries! He could see the color of the Indian Chief's face paint as they snuck the older boys out of the cabin for some tribal fun! Super great product, and I was thrilled at the price. A great value!
I don't know if I got a defective model but the radio does not work despite leaving it out in the bright sun day after day. If I use the crank, it will work for a minute or two. Also, the cellphone charger does not work. I have rarely been disappointed by LLBEAN but this one IS disappointing. I should really return it but have been too lazy to do it yet.
This is a nice little radio to have around during an emergency. Perfect size to keep in your purse, pack, or car, or when traveling. The kids take it when they go fishing. I only gave it 4 stars because I still have one of the older models that is much larger, huge compared to this one. We had both of them out recently during a power outage. The older model gets many more stations with clearer reception than this little one does. Would be nice also to be able to use batteries when the sun doesn't shine. What I really miss is the Grundig radios that llbean use to sell. They are by far a better radio than anything made by Eton. Please bring back the Grundig!
