While much smaller than I expected, this handy device works much better than I anticipated. The sound is clear; flashlight useful, and charger for cell-phone a thoughtful inclusion. Consumers should know that they have to obtain their own USB connection to their cellphones for this function to work.
What do you give a geek that has everything...this super cool radio gadget from LL Bean that you know has been tested. I understand he fooled with it all Christmas Day.
I'm quite impressed with this little radio. I live in a rural area surrounded with lots of trees. I had another weather radio, where I couldn't tune in the weather band stations, but this little thing, the weather band station comes in crystal clear. And the FM stations come in great too. I even got a couple of AM stations, which I usually can't get tuned in where I live.
We took this out of the box, and didn't even crank it, and we've been listening to the radio for hours. I don't know if it came fully charged or if the solar panel is getting power from the lights we have on in the house. If it is getting power from the lights in the house, that is great, but I guess time will tell.
Overall, I'm impressed. I'm curious to see how long I'm impressed. I hope for a very long time!
