I paid $ 29.95 for this radio and do not regret it. (I needed a small kitchen radio for my wake-up NPR fix. I can get radio streaming on my computer, but first thing in the morning I just can't wait for the computer to power up!) I was surprised at the sound quality and volume of this little radio. Reception is good, as long as I keep it in its "sweet spot." 90 sec of cranking provided hours of listening the first time, but not since then. Now I get about 30 min per 90 sec of cranking. Have not had enough sunlight to try the solar charge.....I like that it is small and portable. Plan to use it in summer for camping, beach, kayaking (in a watertight bag of course) for NOAA.
when i first got this product it looked nice and i loved everything but when i tried to charge my ipod touch. It started charging then i came back and the ipod was dead and wouldnt do anything. my brother had the same result with his mp3 player
great and handy little tool for the home or car! made very nicely and reasonably priced! everyone should have one. great also that there was no shipping charge!
This solar radio is supposed to run 8 - 10 hrs. on a single charge (or cranking cycle). Even in a bright window or on top of a backpack, it does neither and lasts 15 min. at best from each charge. It requires constant, direct sunlight to charge up and does not even continue charging while it is turned on, unless it is in direct sunlight. This severely limits its utility, since bright shade is more the norm indoors or while camping or backpacking. Quite frankly, I cannot see its utility at all except in a boat. Very poor value for this much money.
