I was not aware that it was solar. My niece had a larger one with more options and I thought that is what I was buying. Disappointed in it, but it will do.
I love the idea of no batteries. Crank it or put it in the sun and you are set to go. We recently had a bout of severe weather and took this little radio into the basement with us and were able to keep up to date with the weather channel. We didn't need the flashlight but it is nice to know that it is all together in one spot. This would be great for camping, boating or even for the car.
I purchased this radio last year. Close to Christmas time. Used it once when I lost power do to heavy snow and ice. It worked great. Put it back in the box after that. Got it back out getting ready to use it on a camping trip. Pulled up the antenna so the radio reception can come in clearer. The darn antenna snapped off!!! So very disapointed. First LL Bean purchase ever!!!! Sometimes the radio works at least I still have the light and cell phone charger. So, the radio wasn't a total loss. I bought the bigger version of this radio, so hopefully I won't have the same antenna problem. If I do i'm never ordering from this company again.
