I ordered this Wednesday two days before Hurricane Earl was supposed to hit cape cod. UPS delivered it Friday - just hours before the wind was scheduled to arrive. I suppose this is more a positive review for beans and UPS - great job delivering quickly. We fired the radio up and used it all evening...relieved that the storm did not materialize. Fine product - an even finer parent company perhaps!
I love this little radio! I lose power at the drop of a hat where I live and I like that this doesn't use batteries. I also like that you can either charge it in the sun or hand crank it.
The sound is excellent, you would think it is a much larger radio. The flashlight is bright too, with 3 bright LEDs.
The description says it has a phone charger, but to be specific it's a 2.0 USB port, so I think it could be used to charge other gadgets as well. I'll be curious to see if it will charge my ebook reader!
Perfect for storms, camping, or yard work. Only one warning: It is very small. The entire radio fits within my flat hand and I'm an averaged size woman. I'm fine with the size, in fact I think it's handy being so small, but the photo is a bit deceiving and makes it appear larger than it really is.

This little radio is just "ok". It is very small, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on how you'd like to use it. I read all of the consumer reviews, and I find it surprising that no one mentioned a huge deficiency: this radio lacks S.A.M.E., which is your specific local weather. S.A.M.E. stands for Specific Area Message Encoding. So this radio will pick up your closest NOAA weather station, but the weather reports are more general, and not county specific to your local area. It does not allow you to enter your county code, etc. For this reason, this radio is not so useful as a weather radio. I bought it because I thought it would be good to have a crank radio for our emergency kit, and I like the idea that it has a cell phone charger and AM/FM radio. But, the usefulness of this radio falls short due to the S.A.M.E. deficiency. I would recommend the product if you want something for an emergency kit. But, if you want a real weather radio, try a Midland.
I bought 2 radios as gifts but after trying one I decided that I am keeping it and buying more for gifts. It is a great little radio. The solar feature really works and I love the little crank. The weather band is a good feature as is the cell phone charger. Great for emergencies or for campers!
