I bought a pair of these for my husband a little over a year ago and he has "lived" in them since he got them. They got sloppy looking so I ordered a replacement pair. He was disappointed in the quality of the leather. The old ones had a smoother leather with a slight shine. These are soft and dull. While he finds them comfortable, the look leaves something to be desired. I'm increasingly noticing little downward changes in quality in a lot of LL Bean products. Too bad, because I became an LL Bean shopper after a popular outdoor outfitter changed for the worse and raised their prices. I'm a loyal customer who is willing to pay for quality.

These shoes fall apart after 6 months

ProsComfortable, flimsy, made in china
This is my second pair of this type of shoe. The first pair was comfortable and well made and it lasted for several years.
Unfortunately, the most recent pair of these shoes which I purchased has fallen apart after just over 6 months of use. By this, I mean the sole is almost completely separated (see photo). Worst of all, the price of these has nearly doubled over the past several years. It used to be about $30 (on temporary sale) or $40 and they lasted for several years, but now the price has gone up and the quality has diminished to far below what most people trust LL Bean to provide.
These shoes fit the same as they always did, so they are still getting many glowing reviews written a few days after purchase, but the fact is they do not last.
After many pair of Bean shoes, these are the first to give us a problem. These shoes were worn only three or four times when the soles lifted from the front of both shoes...not acceptable they will go back.
