After reading other reviews I ordered up a size and they fit perfectly. They're well made shorts and the 7" inseam is perfect if you're over 40. I'd feel comfortable wearing them out to lunch or to the bank. The lower waist band is nice. It's not low enough to feel like I'm wearing a teenager's shorts and not so high that they feel like Mom jeans. I'm short waisted and it's a good fit. The only drawback is that they're the pockets are set at an odd angle and gape.
Bought a pair of these, size 10, in Khaki at the Concord, NH, outlet store: great fit! Liked them so much, I ordered another pair online in black: the black pair is about 1/2" smaller all around -- tag numbers are the same, size is allegedly both the same (10 reg), but measurably different. This is very unusual for LL Bean -- other stores, yes, but not LLB. I'm returning the black pair, and will try another black size 10 to see if it was a fluke with one pair, or just bad product consistency.
I ordered these shorts, which also happened to be on sale, when I returned the Bayside comfort waist shorts. I prefer the static, non-expanding waist band that these offer. The 7" inseam is also a good length for me. I was pleased that I could continue to find the fixed waist band option that you have always had.
Love these shorts! Have had 5 or 6 pairs. They fit so well, have deep pockets, and come right out of the dryer ready to wear. Great fabric. Perfect tennis shorts. I usually order white ones which are well sized; but I ordered both white and navy for the past two orders. The navy shorts were too small and I had to return them for the next size up. I talked to Customer Service about the discrepancy in size and they made the exchange without charging me the shipping and handling fee - the mark of a great company that stands behind its products.
