First the good - love the fabric, style, price and well made.
Now the bad - shorts are WAY too big for a size 4. I am 5'3", 112 lbs, the shorts fit more like an 8. I realize though that clothes manufactures now make women's clothes larger to make women feel they weigh less than their actual weight. I used to wear a size 6 in LLBean clothes 20 years ago and now wear a size 4 (although looks like a size 2 now if LLBean made one) without having to lose weight. Also am not fond of the "just below the waist" style...liked it in the 60's when I was much younger but don't see anything flattering about the style on a 56 year old woman.
Recommend to a friend? Depends on their body shape.
I ordered 4 pairs of these shorts, I ordered a size larger as suggested, they were still too tight. Also, they button right at your natural waist, which if I read the description correctly it said slightly below. I ended up returning all 4 pairs of shorts. The fabric, stitching quality was great, the fit not so much.
