I love the jacket, the material is ideal, the fit is true and flattering... except the hood. I am unsure for who such a hood is designed for. It's almost as if Bean was expecting me to be Amy Winehouse with her dramatic hair do... Or an alien cone head. But, the worst part is that it is not adjustable!! There is this redundant velcro strip that does nothing and the cords on either side just balloon the top even more. Hopefully this is just a singular design flaw incident.
I ordered the waterproof storm jacket online. I needed a nice, lightweight, waterproof jacket for fall and spring. After browsing local stores unsuccessfully (winter coats were already out!) I decided to go with "the Bean". I have their 3 in 1 jacket for winter and absolutely love the quality and fit. The outer shell of that coat works well in rain too, but I didn't want to wear the same coat all year, LOL!
Anyway, I was disappointed in the quality of this coat. My first hint was the tiny package it arrived in, when I took it out, it was a wrinkled mess, and after hanging in my closet for a couple days, it ws still very wrinkle-y and sloppy looking. It was not the type of material I had anticipated based on the online photos...it seemed nothing more than a fold up windbreaker. As another reviewer mentioned the lining was also very plastic-y. Kind of like a halloween costume of old. The fit, however, was good, and true to size based on other Bean clothing I've purchased. All in all I felt that the sloppy look and thin material was not worth the price of the jacket, so I returned it. I will probably buy another 3 in 1, (which has a cheaper price!), in another color to use as my rainy day jacket then I'll have a spare zip up fleece too!
I love this jacket. Keeps you warm and dry on those spring/fall windy and rainy days. Lots of pockets including 2 large inner pockets which I love. Hood does not cover face. I ordered petite size and am very pleased. This is the only jacket I have that is not too big in the sleeves. I have the purple one and the colors very attractive. Would definitely order this again.
I received and returned this jacket today. Great coat as far as quality goes....blue is very pretty. The jacket fit appropriately through the arms and shoulders, but was too small through the hips. I usually wear a small in LLBean's tops, but ordered a medium jacket based on the reviews....it was still too small.
