I run in it, with layers underneath, nice and light. Love it. Got one for my husband and he too loves it for running. It is also wind and waterproof, fantastic late spring, early fall hiking layer too.
This jacket is exactly what I needed in a rain jacket. Normally I heat up really quickly in a raincoat, but this one has really good sized pit zips that zip from both directions, so I should be able to shed a lot of heat. The jacket is fairly thin, but it appears to be the same material as their rain pants, which have been superbly durable for me. My concern with a breathable raincoat is how waterproof it is. This one beads up the rain great. I have not been in any downpours yet, but all signs point to it keeping me dry even in extended heavy rains. I was reluctant to spend the money for a good raincoat, but now that I have I am very glad I did. It really is a bargain for the features and quality. I almost forgot the hood. Most hoods are worthless because they do not stay on. This one cinches up tight and has a little bill, so it stays on and keeps rain out of your face. Wonderful. I am very happy with the looks of the jacket too. Of course, like all LL Bean items there is little risk as they stand behind everything.
