Light, airy, and truly sun-blocking. I'm a teacher who gets a crew-cut on the last day of school--and then wears this hat every day all summer. Trust me, it's a perfect summer hat.
This is a great hat. I bought it for my husband after it was reconmended to me by my Papa. I love how it has UV protection so I need to worry a little less about how much sun he gets. I plan on buying a second one for him to wear when we go out. This one is his work hat. Only bummer is it doesn't have a strap so in windy places, i.e. fishing piers it has a tendency to want to blow off. Otherwise it is great.
I'm not a hat person, but I love this hat. I reluctantly purchased it for yard work to protect my skin and hair (and also my hair color). I wear it whenever I go outside, and I've started wearing it on long car rides when I plan to keep the sunroof open. I fold it up and tuck it in my purse now, so it goes with me everywhere. My husband even says it's cute.
I have a large head, so I wouldn't have purchased a one-size fits all hat. I followed the instructions to measure myself, and it fits perfectly. Thanks LL Bean!
I live in central Florida and love LL Bean merchandise. I bought this hat while visiting the main store in Freeport thinking its light weight and light color would be just right for the Florida heat. Boy was I wrong!
It would be a nice hat for cooler climates and will be great for fall and winter down here but it is by far the hottest hat I've ever had on my head in the Florida summer. The nylon does not allow any ventilation whatsoever.
Now if LL Bean came out with a mesh bucket hat of a similar size and style, I'd snap several up in a second. For now, I'll just put this one away until October.
