We bought the LL Bean croquet set to have on hand during the events around our daughter's wedding. We've been having a lot of fun playing after so many years. The only thing I wish is that I had saved the wooden balls from my old set of many years ago. The plastic balls are fine, just not quite the same. But, from a cost perspective, the set is well worth the money. We since have entertained many times inviting folks over for an evening of croquet and bbq. Fun!
I gave this sturdy looking croquet set to my husband for his birthday. I was impressed that it would also have its own storage system without having to invest in the separate stand ($69). Unfortunately, the bag can only hold the mallets when they are disassembled (as they are for shipping). This is not very practical for storage since they are difficult to take apart once the handle and mallet parts are screwed together. I looked for a storage box but could not find one both long and big enough. So it looks like my husband will be getting the stand for Christmas. I wish LL Bean would make a storage bag that is a real solution for keeping and transporting the set.
This croquet set is an excellent quality. All parts are well made. Also, L.L.Bean was very helpful when I spoke with them during the ordering process, and the delivery was prompt--much faster than expected.
