I have looked for belts like this one for a couple of years, and have finally found one that fits me (I'm a 38-40 waist)! This belt is wonderful and looks great with Jeans, Chino's (Pants or Shorts), and my new RipStop cargo pants from LLBean. I've used both leather and canvas belts of this type, and they barley last me a year or so. Always end up with that sag in the back/middle of the belt, after a few months. I think the two of these that I've bought will make it at least a few years. In my book, that makes a great product.
The large is 47 1/4", perfect for 36-40" pants, giving you just enough (about 5-7" of a tail) to pull through and past your first belt loop.
Unless you're wearing a pair of dress pants or suit, this belt will work for any occasion. It just looks great! And if you wear a multi-tool, phone, or in my case a CCW (concealed carry weapon), it holds tight and doesn't stretch-out.
It did take a day or two to figure out how to cinch it up in small increments, but try, once having it laced-up, placing your left pointer finger over the LLBean logo (Thumb under, between pants and buckle), and with your right hand feed the belt into the buckle as much as needed, creating slack (a pooch) inside the buckle. Then pull the remaining slack from the left (tail end). It works great. This shows that it is made to stay... once you lace it up!!!
Positive comments Simple to use Nice width - works well with jeans Stays snug Easy to loosen the buckle Negative comment Very difficult to tighten around the waist
As a vegetarian, I wanted a belt with no leather. I've used this one for a few days and am generally satisfied. It's a little hard to cinch up the last few fractions of an inch, but that's not a big problem.
