A great versatile jacket
PostedJanuary 21, 2011
ProsComfortable, Performing as Expected, versatile
To start, I've been using this jacket daily for over a month in a variety of conditions. I'm very impressed with both the versatility, warmth, and fit of this jacket.
FIT: I'm a little over 6'4" and have wide shoulders and lanky arms. Usually, I wear an XL Tall with most Bean products, but I was able to fit wonderfully into an XXL Reg. It has an athletic cut, but is not restrictive or bulky. It works well as a layer, or by itself.
WARMTH and VERSATILITY: I've used this coat commuting, hiking, and skiing. It is extremely comfortable and reassuring to wear, being so soft, when you go out in the cold. Alone, it is plenty warm for all but the bitterest of New England days, which I was surprised about due to the relatively low bulk. When paired with a shell, it is an excellent mid-layer. The athletic fit and low bulk make it a fantastic layering piece. I wore it with a shell and a t-shirt skiing in 10 degree windy weather and was toasty.
PROS:
-Fit
-Versatility
-Plenty of pockets, including an interior stash pocket, a napoleon pocket, and 2 hand pockets
-Athletic, non-bulky cut
-Quite water resistant for a 'puffy' jacket
-Warm, but not too warm
CONS:
-The hood is huge when you put it on. It easily cinches over my eyes and down to my nose. It fits great over a helmet, but is a tad too big unless you have a shell hood over top of it to contain it. I've remedied this by rolling the brim over and cinching it to fit over my head better.
I'll try to re-comment on durability after I've had it for a while, but I've tested it pretty extensively and love it so far!

Excellent Jacket, but too Short
PostedJanuary 15, 2011
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
This jacket is well worth the money and performs wonderfully. I recently moved to Chicago from Maine for school and this light jacket keeps me warm and dry in the mixed weather of the Midwest. The jacket is not too bulky and hot, but keeps the wind and cold out on days when the temperature drops. My only disappointment with this jacket was the size. I am 5’ 11” and normally an XL regular fits me nicely, however, I needed to send it back for an XL tall, because the jacket was just too short. The XL tall is the perfect length and does not sacrifice the jacket’s sporty, trim, and functional design.

PrimaLoft Jacket - Warm!
PostedJanuary 11, 2011
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected, warm
I purchased this jacket in the Yellow/Grey, in size Large.
So far, I have used this jacket in temperatures around -10 C / 14 F, with a cotton t-shirt and light sweater, and have been quite warm! Changing out for warmer layers should allow this jacket to go to -15/-20 C/ 5/-4 F with little problems.
As other reviewers have pointed out, the jacket is deceptively warm. It is lightweight, not "crunchy", blocks wind well, and is very comfortable. It also works well when driving. I highly recommend this jacket. If it had a detachable hood, it would be perfect.
The fit is decent compared to other jackets, but a bit loose in the upper torso, yet would be too snug under the arms if I dropped down a size. I recommend going up a size if you plan on adding extra layers, or require exceptional mobility. Even though it is a bit bigger, it doesn't look sloppy. So, overall I am happy with this purchase. It is a good value.

Great Jacket
PostedJanuary 11, 2011
ProsGreat Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
Years ago I bought my husband a layering jacket that had a prima loft inner coat with a outer jacket that was wind and water resistant. He wore the heck out of the down jacket so I looked to see if I could find another for him. I got this jacket in the blue and at first thought it looked a little flat and was worried. It is the lightest and warmest coat and really comfortable, I keep stealing it to take the dog out so I decided to by one for myself but only black was left, please make them in more colors. I love th hood since I don't like to wear a hat but if it starts to snow or rain I can throw it up. I love this jacket and my husband who has so many different jackets for different reasons, says it is his favorite all time jacket!!!
