After reading the reviews, I decided to purchase this jacket as I've been looking for a warm jacket that's not bulky. I recieved the jacket very quickly only 2 days after placing the order however was disappointed with the quality of the jacket as it looked cheap and not at all worth the price. I have been a customer with LLBean for over 20 years and this is the first item that I'm disappointed with. I am returning the jacket tomorrow.
When I received this jacket I immediately put it on. It was so light and soft. I like the lapiz blue color. It's a nice bright color (which isn't very popular in NY where you see mostly dark color jackets). The train platform is usually really windy and cold. I was suprised at how warm this jacket kept me. It blocked the wind nicely. I was a little concerned about ordering this jacket after reading a review that the sleeves were short. I am a 5'5" hourglass size 8. I normally wear a size small but I ordered the medium just to be safe. It fits perfectly. Normally I have problems finding a jacket that fits my shoulders and hips without being too baggy around the waist. This fit very nicely with a little extra room around the middle. I really like this jacket and can see I'll be wearing it a lot in the future. Another quality product from LL Bean.
I ordered this jacket as a substitute for a older, bulkier Bean primaloft jacket. I loved the primaloft feature- keeps you warm and dry no matter what the weather is.
I read the reviews before purchasing and most were spot on. I am a 5'3" female, normally size 8-10 in jackets because I have broader shoulders than most. I ordered a Medium- and it fits fine. I know a lot of people who want to order a size "up" so they can layer underneath, but you really don't have to worry about layering with the primaloft (I've "cold" tested this outside with a tank top in 30 degrees and i'm still toasty warm).
This jacket is short (falls at the hip) but it's exactly what I was looking for- something to run around town in errands, go to class and walk the dog in. The sleeves are a *little* short, but once you have gloves on, you don't notice. The hood is AWESOME. A lot of reviewers commented that the hood was huge, but I love big hoods because my biggest problem is being able to keep my hood up when my hair is tied back or if I have a hat on. This hood stays in place and if you cinch the drawstring it's PERFECT.
External pockets are deep for gloves and keep your bare hands warm. Although there's only one internal large pocket (my older jacket as 4 internal pockets), it makes sense because there is not much space otherwise.
Lastly, one of the best features of this jacket is that it tucks itself into its' own travel pouch- awesome for you campers out there or frequent travelers who don't have space in their luggage for a bulky winter jacket.
Bought this jacket online and was somewhat skeptical as to its shininess. However when it arrived I was pleased that it's not as shiny as the pictures depict it to be. I am 5'4 and this jacket is actually quite short on me. If it was two inches longer it would have been perfect. Overall it's a very comfortable jacket to do anything and everything you need to do. Great for driving. It's not bulky at all.
