I bought this for my husband as he loves an earlier version that I can not pry off his back. He is an avid cyclist & at first wasn't too keen on this jacket, because it was not exactly like his previous one,but after he tried it out he was sold. He likes the zipped pocket on the outside where he can stash his mobile within easy reach. The fleece seems to block out the headwind when he is doing about 20 mph on his bike.
Bought two fleece jackets last year from LL Bean, both delivered as advertised. Learned when I bought those to go with Tall XL instead of XXL. Have multiple utility jackets, but was looking for a soft-shell jacket that is fleece lined (love fleece) that I could use for work and be my fall back jacket for sports. Have had the jacket for two weeks and it has delivered. Took it to San Francisco last week on business, where it blocked out the wind, mist, and was almost to warm. Only wore a sports shirt under it, and I was toasty. Looks like it could turn into my number one jacket next winter. Now if it wears and lasts like my two fleece jackets I will be a very happy camper.
I try to take one carry-on luggage when I travel for five weeks. I needed a jacket that gave me warmth and style without the bulk. The Pathfinder works and it's stylish as well. Like others I, layer my clothing depending on the weather and the Pathfinder is going to be a permanent piece when I travel when the weather can be 30 up to 75(f) with wind wind and rain. Plus I have been Buying from LL Bean for 60 years and they have always honored their warranty. I can sometimes use a med or large, and in this case because I layer I bought the large size.
Definitely not "Trim" like the description says. The width at the waist may even be slightly larger than the width at the armpit. I don't know in what world this could be considered "trim". There is a drawstring, but that only sort of helps. It keeps me from looking like a child wearing an oversized shirt in the 90s, but that's about it. This is definitely a jacket of the one-size-fits-every-fat-american school.
Which is a shame since the material is great - smooth and flexible unlike a lot of soft shells. And the price is competitive.
I also was hoping that the logo would actually be black (on black) like one review said it was, but mine was in fact white.
