Though I recently purchased this jacket I already feel it is one of the best pieces of clothing I have had in a long time. It is light, waterproof and windproof. For me it will be perfect for fall and winter. A great product.
I did notice what I read in an earlier review on this site - the sleeves are a bit long. On the positive side, it allows you to pull your hand up inside the jacket a bit if you forget your gloves. Now who else would forget their gloves besides me??? But overall a great jacket.
This is an extremely nice jacket that I would certainly buy again and recommend to others.
The fit and build quality of this jacket are hands down the best I've ever owned - and that's not something I take lightly (I'm 5' 6", weigh about 150 lbs., short legs / longer torso - purchased a medium).
However, to be honest, I'd originally purchased this jacket to routinely wear in temperatures as low as 40 degrees. It is OK in the 40's if you're just running to/from the car; however, it is not sufficient for extended "low activity" time outdoors if the temp is in the 40's (I'm sure if you were jogging or something generating heat it might be OK). For extended use outside, this jacket is realistically good down to about 50 degrees if the wind isn't blowing a lot.
To be honest, this fleece doesn't provide the warmth I'd expected for the price, but I think that's more my fault for overestimating what a dollar will get you these days.
The reality is that I purchased a good cool weather jacket, and it is certainly an excellent cool weather jacket.
Ultimately, I ended up also purchasing Bean's "Insulated Fleece Jacket" for colder weather, which turned out to be more along the lines of what I was originally after when purchasing the Pathfinder Soft-Shell Jacket.
On the upside, now I have great jackets for both fall and winter :-).
