Because it is a lighter weight jacket, I was skeptical that I really needed it. It seemed to be appropriate for the same type of weather that I would ordinarily grab a fleece jacket. As it turns out, I reach for this jacket quite often. It offers a little more warmth than a fleece but because it is water-resistant, it's perfect for days that threaten rain. I love the give and stretch of the exterior fabric and even though the interior (including sleeves) is lined with a thin fleece, I can still pull this jacket on over another fleece shirt if needed. Because of the inner zipper flap (to keep out wind), the collar can stick up on one side if zipped to a certain height, but this is a pretty minor complaint (completely avoided if zipped all the way up or only as high as needed to keep collar laying flat). I liked this jacket enough that I just ordered another in a different color.
I just got this jacket for myself I was a little unsure when I ordered this jacket. Just arrived and I really like it. It fits more relaxed and its just an overall great jacket. If you like to be warm without all the balk. This jacket would be for you. Fit is pretty accurate size wise for me. Wasn't to big or small.
Although this is a very nice looking jacket and it is lightweight and slenderizing it has it's bad points. After wearing the jacket a couple times the zipper opens up on the bottom. Several times I had to pull the jacket up over my head to take it off. Sleeves are too tight, cannot wear sweater. Very binding across the shoulders and arm pits. Did not keep you very warm. Very disappointed :-(
I bought this jacket at your L.L.Bean flagship store in Maine, while visiting there on a vacation. I liked the color and that it had slimming lines and was windproof and somewhat water resistant. I purchased a large regular so I could layer it over bulky sweaters. I had it no more than a week and the zipper split open from the bottom. I am 5'4" tall and approx. 138 lbs. so it didn't split because it was too tight., It fit comfortably. It happened several times and then I decided to return it. The zipper needs to be heavier duty so it won't split. I have an old trail model L.L. Bean fleese coat that has a heavy duty zipper in it and it still works flawlessly. Bring back the old style heavy duty zippers. I have been buying L.L. Bean products for 20 years.
