I bought this product because I didn't have a jacket on me and the weather turned out to be damp and cooler than was forecasted for the day. I needed something that was water resistant, but I didn't want a shell because I am always cold, especially on damp days. The Pathfinder has wound up being the perfect transition jacket for spring. In fact, I wear it more like a sweatshirt/fleece than a jacket because I haven't taken it off all day long yet unless it has been more than 70 degrees out! It is just that comfortable! It has repelled water on rainy days when it has gotten wet when I have not been under cover from an umbrella and the light fleece lining has kept me comfortable. The soft exterior has made it feel like an outer layer more than a jacket. It has been a great addition for spring.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected, great style
My first time to order from LLBean and this is one of the jackets I ordered. I just love it -- love the material, love the fit, love the style and look. I have it in small regular ( I am between XS and S in many brands) and it fits very comfortably. I am ordering in 2 more colors. It is my new favorite jacket. I am also impressed by the whole LLBean online shopping experience. Great service.

This is possibly the best piece of outdoor gear I have ever purchased. I needed a soft shell, but didn't want to pay the high-prices of other brands. This one is every bit as good! I take it hiking for those moments when the peak gets cold and windy, and it still breathes when I move. When mountaineering for a week in the Adirondacks, I wore this under a puffy at night in sub-zero temps and was perfectly cozy! The fleece lining in this jacket makes it warmer than most soft shells, and great for not-too-cold days downhill skiing. In fact, there isn't an activity this jacket can't be used for. One suggestion: a hood would be great to keep the wind away.
