I wanted a softshell jacket for wind and water resistance. This jacket is lighter than I expected and not as warm as my pull over fleece. It does keep out the wind but is not warm so extra layers are required. It is very fitted so unless you buy a large size it isn't great as the top layer. A windbreaker over fleece on cold fall days works better. I also find that it is short.
I like this jacket for jogging on cold days and for style as a light weight every day jacket.
I've been wanting a soft shell jacket in a fun color, and this one fit the bill perfectly. It's warm and comfortable, and very cute. I bought the springy green color, and I love brightening up our gloomy winter days in my cute jacket!
It's a little boxy, but that gives room for layers. The length is a little longer than I expected from the description; but that's fine with me. My lower back stays nice and warm! Also, the sleeves are long enough! It's tricky in a women's jacket. These are perfect and I love not fighting too-short sleeves!
This jacket has been great in this cold spell (well, cold for Seattle! Temps in the low 20s) and moves comfortably with me when I'm active. I haven't cross-country skied in in it yet, but I suspect it will be perfect for that. I look forward to finding out!

I just finished buying my second Pathfinder coat! I walk my dogs in the winter even when it is 0 degrees out and snowing and this jacket keeps me warm and dry! I wear a long sleeve shirt and turtle neck underneath and I am comfortable and able to move around. I have a Lab and Great Dane so we are on the go a lot in the winter and this is the only coat I wear! Thanks LL Bean!

I love this jacket! I’m petite and it is always hard to find something that fits just right. The length of the sleeves and the back is perfect. And the fit is perfectly snug, which is exactly what I wanted in a jacket to keep the cold air from getting in. Because the jacket fits snuggly, layering is not possible. If you plan to layer up, then I would suggest ordering a size up to allow room for layering. If you’re standing still, the jacket won’t be warm enough by itself, but if you’re in constant motion, this jacket does a really great job retaining your body heat, blocking the wind, while preventing your body from overheating. It is great for active wear. And I love the stretch in the fabric. It’s so comfortable. And because it fits so well, it looks good too! I highly recommend this jacket. Thanks L.L. Bean!
