Love this jacket. It's warm, stylish and I've received many "where did you get that jacket" comments. No one can believe it's LLBean, the style/shiny color is very fashion forward.
PROS: This is a great coat. As other reviewers have noted, the hood on it is really wonderful. It's light, packs down nicely for travel, and kept me warm during a Christmas visit to Minnesota! I'm usually a well-endowed size 12-14, and the XL fit comfortably even with a turtleneck and sweatshirt beneath.
CONS: It generates some serious static. I sprayed mine down inside and out with Static Guard, and it worked like a charm. I would think a rub down with dryer sheets would achieve similar results. Also, the dark purple that's shown in the pictures apparently isn't actually available; the crocus color is definitely more like the one on the model with the snowy background.
WISHES: I wish this were available in a longer mid-thigh length. I also wish that it had inner fleece cuffs with thumb holes to keep the wind from creeping through between the outer cuff and mittens. In my opinion, those two changes would make this jacket perfect!

I ordered this coat in the gunmetal gray color. However I would describe it as actually being more of a midnight blue color, which I loved. I really wanted to like this coat b/c it is so pretty and did seem to be warm despite it being very light in terms of weight. However there were problems with the fit. The collar hung open around the neck oddly and a scarf would be a must in cold weather. Also, if you wore the hood up, the tightening of the tassels was not very effective and did not stay tight. Finally, even though I ordered a size up to take in account bulky winter clothing, the size ran small - especially in the arm lengths (I have average sized arm lengths and cannot recall ever having a problem with sleeve lengths being too short). In the end, I sadly returned the coat. I just couldn't see spending $110 on a coat that just didn't meet up to standards. I do give LL Bean kudos in the no hassels return department - my credit card account was quickly credited. I ended up ordering the basic $69 goose down coat and highly recommend it. Very warm for Minnesota winters and has a flattering fit.
This jacket was for the express purpose of keeping me warm, yet not being overly bulky. As soon as I tried it on, I knew it was going to be mine! The waist sits perfectly, the shoulders are fitted, and it's warm! After having lost a tremendous amount of weight I didn't want a coat to bulk me up. This coat delivers feminity yet doesn't give up on what it was designed to do. I would recommend this jacket to all of my friends and yours too!
