Mountain Laurel Jacket nice but thin
PostedOctober 29, 2010
I love the look and style of this jacket, all the details, the hood, and the color. But it is very thin, with very little down, and almost no loft at all. It can't possibly match the temperature rating that is advertised. In the photo it look much puffier than it does in real life.

returned this item because it was too fitted for me. Also, didn't seem to have the quality construction I expect from LLBean. In addition, coat seemed to thin to qualify for the cold weather rating.

Response from L.L.BeanBy L.L.Bean Product TeamNovember 9, 2010
Thank you for sharing your comments. We’re sorry that you were disappointed with this product. We designed the jacket to be slightly fitted. You might try our bestselling Rugged Ridge Parka. It's designed to handle lots of layering and it really keeps you warm.

All of our outerwear is scientifically tested to determine comfort ranges. If you click the comfort/temp icon on top to the jacket page you'll find a nice description of how this testing is done.

As always, quality remains a top priority at L.L.Bean. We want you to be happy with every item you buy, and we back this with our 100% satisfaction guarantee. Thanks again for taking the time to post your remarks.

ProsComfortable
Very cute jacket, although way thinner than I expected. Zipper is lightweight and the pockets are very thin, letting in the cold. As this is Montana, and we are barely getting are cold I'm concerned this jacket may not fit the bill. But it is Cute, and has a hood, so I'm thinking shopping etc... I was hoping for snow shoeing, walking the dogs...just don't know yet, I will get back to you all tho. Better value then North Face, Sierra, as I did check in person.

Mountain Laurel Re-design Works!
PostedOctober 26, 2010
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
I'm a true 10-12 regular size and I tried this jacket last winter (2009-10) but the medium was too tight around the hips & the large was huge through the shoulders. When I read LL Bean had redesigned the cut, I tried the medium again this fall (2010-11) because I love the Purple Crocus color. I'm glad I did, because it is perfect! I can even fit a light/medium layer under it without feeling bulky. The stitching keeps the design feminine, and the cut allows for nice movement. The down is also distributed very well. My favorite part is the hood which is lined in a pretty super-soft furry fleece. If you are looking for a cute and casual cold-weather jacket to wear all season long, I highly recommend this one!
