Sizing: at 5'6", 145 lbs, I was concerned about the fit of the Medium, based on others' comments. However, it fit great, with plenty of room for a mid-weight layer, as advertised.
Warmth: The LL Bean ratings (30 degrees to minus 20) are set for a 28 yo man exercising lightly/moderately (30 degrees) to moderately (minus 20). This 55+ yo female gets cold more easily, and would need a warm mid-weight layer (that covers all skin), for comfort at 30 degrees; would not consider the jacket adequate for temperatures closer to zero. If the wind is blowing, it will enter the sleeves via the somewhat-loose cuffs--fine if you're walking briskly and need cooling. Otherwise, thick gloves might work.
I see this jacket being useful for 3 seasons in my moderate climate--all but Summer.
Style: sleek--but roomy. And a number of lovely design details make this more upscale than most down jackets--even designer labels--that I checked prior to purchase. The back dips down a bit to cover most of one's backside.
Color: the silver and turquoise colors matched the photos on the web site.
After reading all the reviews before I bought this, I decided to buy the medium regular. I am 5'3" and generally do not buy petite (arms are too short). I am small boned and not large across the shoulders and not skinny 135 lb and I am busty. I found the arms a bit long on this and it is just a tad looser than I would like even with a sweater under. I am also debating about the purple crocus colour - it is quite bright. Having said all of this since the cut has changed from last year (I would have preferred it!) and if you usually take a regular small I would buy the small. I just may purchase a petite medium as petites usually run small. It still is a lovely jacket........
I felt the item was of a delicate fabric that wasn't sturdy enough to be worn for practical everyday use. Although beautiful color, light and warm, it wasn't "strong" enough to not worry me about damaging it.
