This is a high quality jacket. I am a true 10-12 and bought a medium and the fit was good. I am only 5'2", but I bought the regular size and it fit fine, so people with very long arms might find this jacket's arms a little short. It is not too bulky and hits me at the hip (would hit at the waist for someone 5'4" or taller, probably). The hood is VERY cozy. The inside pockets are fantastic and the zipper pulls are even nice.
The only complaint I have is the color. The gunmetal gray is gray in natural light, but inside it often looks kind of blue. That bugs me because when I wear it with jeans it makes me look like I'm wearing a blue suit! But it looks pretty good outside. I think that the online image might be older than the current design of the jacket. The jacket looks identical except that the gunmetal gray has a turquoise/aqua detail behind the zipper, not just gray and black. There is a cute little embroidered turquoise/aqua flower on the cuff as well.
Love it. My favorite cold weather jacket. I bought this coat in the deep purple last year. I usually wear XS petite in Bean's clothes. I got the S petite and it fits me perfectly. In addition to the great quilting design, the cut is perfect for me.
Sleeves are nicely shaped but are cut well for movement in arms and shoulders (and I have fairly good size shoulders for my size)
The hood is very well-designed. It stays up comfortably yet allows for visibility. Unlike another reviewer, I think it cinches up just perfectly to keep out the wind, or you can wear it open at the end of a walk when you warm up. The fabric that is against your chin and cheeks when the hood is zipped is extremely soft and comfy. I am very sensitive to scratchy chin jackets.
The jacket is very warm and somewhat breathable for comfort. Easy to wear (No Velcro! Yay!)_Zips easily, pull cords at bottom tighten easily with gloves on. Looks great too-- many compliments.
I have worn coat right away.Loive it! Size is right on I am a size 12 and I ordered a size large because I like to layer. This allows me to wear 3 layers under the jacket and still look trim. I get compliments on how nice it looks all the time The jacket is so well made.I can not believe the great price I got it for. I would describe myself as outdoorsie, and I live in a northern climate . So it is worn all the time as we have 9 months of winter every year.
