I purchased this jacket for my son and he has had the jacket for 3 months now and the zipper has completely come off the jacket. The feathers have continually come out through the fabric of the jacket. The hood has come off due to a zipper defect also. I would not recommend this jacket for a child that would be wearing it other than to church on sundays.
I'm not sure what to say about this coat. My son loves it. He loves, the pattern and he thinks it's cozy. BUT I kept noticing that the zipper that holds the hood on is always split. After closer inspection I can see that it is broken. So, given that we haven't had it very long, I can't say that I would buy it again as one would think it should last more than 8 weeks. He can't use the hood, it's in a closet...not much good if it won't stay on the coat. This was my first coat purchase from LL Bean.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
I purchased this item for my grandson who is always outside. We live on a lake in southern New england, which adds to the cold temperatures. Unlike other reviews, his biggest complaint is me worrying that he is too cold. He insists on wearing this jacket with only a long sleeve thermal t underneath. He is NEVER cold in this jacket while playing outside, spending lots of time on the ice. He has noticed, if he stands still for a period of time waiting for the bus, he does get chilly. Overall, I would say this is the perfect jacket for an active ten year old when paired with appropriate boots, hats, etc. I would definitely buy this jacket again, and probably will for my younger grandson, who is also very active.
