I actually bought three for my three kids aged 7, 7, and 10. We are in Atlanta, so it doesn't get frigid cold. These jackets seem to be the perfect answer to the variable winter weather that we do receive down here.
As with all other products I've ever purchased from LL Bean, these jackets appear to be well made and I expect them to last a few years.

This is the 3rd year we have ordered this style of jacket and, once again, we love it! My 7 year old son finds it plenty warm enough (although he tends to be a bit hot blooded) and loves everything about it. The year we got him a 3in1 he was miserable, complaining about the sleeves shifting, annoyed with the zippers and frustrated with the bulk. This coat is simple, light weight but warm enough, feels great, looks great and is affordable. We contemplated trying out a different jacket but figured, why mess with what works well?
I can't say for sure if I will like this product, when it arrived, it was very much too small for my son when it should have been a little bit too big. Now I have to pay $6.50 to ship it back and re-order another size. I don't know if they just run small or if the jacket we got was just WRONG. I ordered another item at the same time, same size, which is a little bit too big - just the way my very small 12 year old son likes it!
