I bought my Ultralight 850 XL Tall and wore it daily through the recent nasty cold and snow here in Atlanta. I had to be on the job at 0500. Being outside in the dark and cold presented no problems to the Ultralight 850. I just wish I'd bought the vest too. Same warmth and comfort as the more bulky jacket.
I agree with the other reviewers that this jacket is surprisingly warm for its light weight. And stylish. The material feels great to snuggle into! If it could also come with a hood, and maybe a second inside zip pocket, LL Bean would achieve down perfection!
ProsGreat Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
I've been looking at all brands of jackets prior to choosing this one. After I received it I even went to a local outdoor store to compare it to jackets double the cost. I made the right choice with the LL Bean.

I've owned this jacket for a little over a week now and it continues to amaze me. I know other reviewers have already mentioned this, but I'm shocked at the weight (light) and warmth (very) of this jacket. Its also fairly stylish. I gave this jacket a 4 star rating though because it is not waterproof and because it does lose down (the former I knew before purchasing, the latter I did not, though my girlfriend assures me this is common with down jackets). I did a good bit of online research before purchasing this jacket and I doubt for the price you'll be able to find a down jacket much better than this one. In terms of colors, I went with the red one, but would have been equally happy with the green or black (I went to the store and actually tried them all on). In terms of sizing, I'm 5' 9" & 175 lbs and the medium fits me perfectly.
