I bought this for my son who loved it. First hike out, however, it ripped walking by a twig sticking out...so much for rip resistant. We are sending it back and will look for something less fragile-he is a teenager after all. Too bad.

Great Jacket! I will wear it often in the spring and fall plus I'll take it with me when doing the complete John Muir Trail this coming summer. The fill weight (I had to call LL Bean to find out) is about 4.5 oz. so it is not a jacket I would recommend for backpacking winter use. LL Bean does not offer a down jacket with more fill but other companies do have 9 oz fill jackets for at least twice the price. I like the 4.5 oz.
