My husband absolutely loves this jacket. It is light as a feather and keeps him very warm. It also has a great storage pocket as well. He would highly recommend this to anyone. He also has a heaver parka from LL Bean whih is great for sub zero etc.
This jacket is very warm. I feel like I am always comfortable in it, it seems to always be the temperature I want. I can be lounging in the house with it on, then be equally as comfortable outside walking around boston. It is extremely light, it definitely does not feel like a big clunky coat. In no way is it restrictive, and there is no scratchy uncomfortable contact when you zip it up all the way. Some of the down has been left on my back after wearing it, this may be because it is on the newer side, but i dont mind much. Good luck finding anything of this quality at a lower price. LL Bean is the best.
Researched a few different brands before finally deciding on this one. Fantastic value and lower in price than the others. Works great on cold, dry climbs. Stuff it down into the bottom of my pack, takes up about as much room as a couple of bagels. Only down side is the outside chest pocket zipper is too close to the main body zipper and the pull fob gets caught . Solution:eliminated the fob. Oh did I say It's warm as heck. Good for stop and go
I found this to be an excellent jacket but with no need to "stuff" it into a little package I purchased the 650 down jacket that was rated for the same warmth. If there was not such a price large price differential between the two jackets I would have purchased the 850 due to its weight differential.
