As in: "I wear mine while out standing in the frigid field". Instant warmth. This is the single best item I have purchased since my Bean boots. After a month of testing during Ohio's recent cold snap I can confirm; zero shivers. The detail in design quality matches the beautiful materials it's made of. The mens size M fits me perfectly (6'1", 177lbs) and its compact profile allows a greater range of motion than other down garments I have tried. As a critical reviewer I gladly give it 5 stars, though I have two minor suggestions 1) make the hanging loop more substantial, and 2) the wrist closures could be tighter. Congrats to all who created this jacket, it should become one of your signature pieces.
I am very pleased with this coat. It is light weight and exceptionally warm. I like the fact that it has a zippered pockets on both the outside and inside to store my iphone. I highly recommend this coat.
This is a feathery light jacket which I was eager to have. I was disappointed to quickly feel the cold wearing it -- especially in the arms -- when the temperature was in the mid-twenties. Examining it later, I found the down nearly absent in the upper arm region -- possibly shifted in the tubular channels as designed. I felt there wasn't much there to start with and even that had moved elsewhere.
I found the large size a bit roomy for my 6' frame... I would think a medium would have me looking a bit less like the Michelin mascot.
It will be returned, sadly. Though perhaps if I had kept it, it would have served comfortably well on milder days or as an underlayer with another coat or shell.
I gave this coat to my husband for Christmas and he is thrilled with it. I actually stuffed it into his stocking instead of wrapping it. He wears this coat every day and can't stop raving about it. It is so lightweight he can hardly tell he's wearing a coat, but it has kept him warm in -20 Celsius weather. It doesn't overheat him in warmer weather, either. I bought his coat (and one for me, too) with the idea that they would be perfect for our trip to Hawaii, as we can wear them to the airport then stuff them into our bags and they won't take up much room. I think this coat is perfect for a winter climate with fluctuating temperatures and I am very pleased with the value.
