I bought this jacket last winter, on a whim--the grape-y purple won me over--and I loved it--for about six days. My parents arrived form Europe to visit us for the holidays and my mother wound up putting on my jacket to run aout and get some firewood for the fireplace. That's the last I saw of my beloved purple acquisition. Upon coming back in, she sang its praises: "it's light, it's warm, it's not bulky, the length is perfect (she's 5 feet tall) and it's so pretty. You can get another one." Alas, it's sold out in every color in the small and my Mom took mine back to Europe--it condenses down to nothing so it's very packable as well. She tells me everyone likes it there. I understand, I liked it as well. If it's not sold out in your size, get one. Heck, get two! In case your mother comes to visit.
I have one of these in black and it has been my favorite coat for a long time. I lost it recently and came here to replace it. Customer service told me it's being discontinued!
LL Bean, why would you do that for a product that has so many positive reviews?
I'm told they are replacing it with the other down jacket, but I am not a fan of the stitching. I think it makes it look more bulky.
ProsGreat Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
I have this jacket in Black Large - Regular for over 1 year:
It is fitted but not tight. The front will ride up a little if you have a bigger bosom and gap between your pants and your jacket if you are running around.
No much feather came out and I wear it everywhere.
Highly recommend for Travel as it packs into a small 1lb bag.
1 star off for the cuff of the sleeve is very loose elastic and the wind will come through if you do not wear gloves.
Have just order the longer coat in Petite as I am only 5'3" and that will solve the gap problem.
